For the Love...
Jen Hatmaker has a book called “For the Love”. Jen is the Christian author who’s also a preacher’s wife that makes me pee my pants every time I read her books. And you just thot I was a judgemental, flag burning, homosexual athiest. Anyway, it’s funny as shit. Throughout the book she says “For the Love”, like flag burning, liberal, athiests would say “For the Love of Christ”. I laugh a lot and love her like more than any lesbian should ever love a preacher’s wife. I read her books when I feel like I want to choke out every person in sight. I remind myself that this woman I had conditioned myself to hate not so long ago, restores my faith in the world and whomever or whatever higher power I do or do not serve.
I love the Hunger Games series. Like love, love, love to the point that if the world came to an end I would surely rise up and be the next Katniss Everdeen. Ha! Sure thing 200lb, 46 going on 50 year old, broke down, lazy ass pacifist. Leave that kind of activism to those youngins who still think they can change the world. I figured out a long time ago I wasn’t gonna save the world like I had intended to when I was going to law school to right every wrong. I have eventually given into the notion that I’ll be watching that shiz nonstop all day every day from the comfort of my recliner in my living room. Do your thang Katniss. I got you gurl.
So today was a Hunger Games binge watch day. To the point that I almost had the wifey convinced that we immediatey needed to run to Best Buy and buy me the complete DVD series because this was what was going on in the world right now. THE HUNGER GAMES IS A METAPHOR!!! This is the future if we Katniss Everdeen’s don’t rise up and say fuck you to the man. And that’s a friggin metaphor so quit calling me the quasi-hippee feminist you hate to love and stay with me. My point is The Hunger Games is my millenial Star Wars and every time I watch them again, I see something I missed before. They take me to a happy place where all rights are made wrong and yes, Jennifer Lawrence who plays Katness Everdeen being hot as heck doesn’t hurt either. If I were not a one woman, woman I would seriously consider making her mine, but hey, I dig the symbolism too. Damn English degree. Can’t do nothing without over-analyzing. Get on the band wagon and for the love, watch this awesome action series.
